Armada Event: Let's Go Raiding
#1
When: Sunday, April 24, 3:30 PM Eastern US

Open to: All factions are welcome.
  • Romulans will have a tougher time finding a Raider to use.
  • Characters must be level 50+.
  • All fleet and armada members are welcome.
  • You can bring friends from outside the Armada.

Requirements:
  1. A Raider.
    • Stick with cannons as the primary energy weapons.
    • Beams are allowed only in aft weapon slots, or a single DBB in front.
    • Torpedos are also allowed.
    • Cloak is optional, but preferred.
    • A full list of the T5 through T6 Raiders is at the bottom of this post.
  2. Voice Comms.
    • Be available to join on Teamspeak (most likely) or Raidcall, whichever we end up using at the time.
    • Listening is mandatory, actually talking is optional.
  3. Join the Armada_One ingame chat channel (it's open to everyone).
    • /Channel_Join Armada_One

Event Description: Commanding a Raider is a daunting task. Sure, a single Raider can turn an enemy vessel into a cluster of debris in seconds, but that result can quickly turn if even a single thing goes wrong. It's a good reward with a huge risk, and a whole lot of fun.

Join other Raider captains for an afternoon of pillaging. We'll run some queues or missions, attempt some coordinated attacks, see what works, what doesn't work, and have a good time while we're at it.

I hauled a Breen Plesh Brek from the dock and mastered the ship. Also posted the Event in the Strike Group Fleet Event Calendars - I have set min Char Level to 50, that may need correction.

We ended up having a fun time, first going a round in the Undine Space Battlezone to get a good idea how the Raiders performed, and then onto STFs. Since not everyone had a Raider, we ultimately let everyone participate if they wanted to, regardless of what type of ship they had.

@Edarta was nice enough to create and post a vid where we took a team of 3 Raiders and 2 Escorts into ISA: https://youtu.be/5Jz6P6DxBdA

It really was a liberating experience. As a player who primarily plays Cruiser builds I was really impressed by the overall feel of flying the Breen Plesh Brek Heavy Raider.

I think an event like this is really enlightening for anyone who tries it and gives it a solid try. Especially players who just avoid escorts.

Thanks!!!
