As some of us know.. or maybe just me.. I donno lol... STO has a built in music player that ties into winamp and maybe some other music programs.

I'm regularly using it since STO's in game music is kinda meh for me 90% of the time. I guess listening to them outside STO without the built in player counts too lol.

As for me some of the things I listen to are...

Honestly, I've never really figured out how the integrated music player works. Please explain or link

I have various music players (foobar2000 ftw!) but honestly, Pandora make it easy. I generally listen to Pandora and keep the game audio pretty low. I still like to hear things happening in the game (it keeps me alive longer) - YOUR HULL IS AT 75%! etc ... But I really enjoy the mix Pandora provides.

In a form of some semblance of order:
Alternative Rock
New Age/Electronica/Dubstep/Dance/Techno - mix etc.
"Pop" - non boy band, non bieber, non "shake it off"
Classic Rock & Metal
Rock
Punk
80's
90's
Indie
R&B
Mellow/Jazz/One Hit
Rap (Some Hip Hop)
Country (New)
Country (Old)
Classical
Love
Weird Al/Remake/Parody
SoundScapes
Muzak and other just make noise.

I think that sums me up in a mostly accurate Descending Order. What Genres did I forget? (because I'm really not against any one Genre, but I sure dislike some songs in each).

The only way I really know to get it to work is to use winamp, start up a song, or a list of songs in it, then choose media player in game and it stops the in game music and plays the winamp music in it instead, with the ability to change song and volume

Edit: As for song types yeah I'm kinda the same way.. I like any kind of music as long as it sounds good to me lol... except country.. screw that kind of music.. definitely not for me lol

I don't bother with the in game music player because I didn't even know Winamp was still around --- I thought it disbanded like, 10-ish years ago.

Most of the time, Farns has 90s grunge and post grunge playing through Youtube or Pandora. I was a huge Pandora person until recently and have joined the cool kids club with Spotify. Definitely worth it, if you have a few hours to play around with it, make your own playlists and stuff. (The 2 downsides I've found so far are 1. no Beatles and 2. Ads, but they can be disabled with EZBlocker if using the player or using a script in Tampermonkey for the web player)

I personally like to listen to 70s classic rock or music from other video games.
