How did you get into Star Trek Online?/How long have you been playing for? I picked up the game (collectors edition) when it launched but my PC really was not fast enough to play it. Last fall, I was finally able to finish my PC upgrade and now I am diving into this full speed.

What would be your best piece of advice to a new STO player? Run through the fleet tutorial program, it is amazing!

What’s your best and worst STO moment? Best, when I fired it up with my new pc. Worst, 2 weeks later when my power supply failed

Anything else you want to say? I have been playing online games since the early 1990's with the flight sim Confirmed Kill (later called WarBirds) and then moved on to EverQuest where I was a member of the Pantheon on Innoruk server. We later transferred to the test server when our guild founder went to work for SOE, had a lot of fun raiding back then. After that, I tried many other MMO's but failed to get hooked by any. Well, that seems to have changed now with STO,

Personally, I am married and live in CT, and have an awesome dog and amazing cat who comes along with us on our walks.

How did you get into Star Trek Online? Steam, along with some fan feelings for the series like Voyager *>*.

How long have you been playing for? A while....?

What would be your best piece of advice to a new STO player? Don't use the market until Vice Admiral, and always bring a "shotgun" into ground missions.

What’s your favourite career type (Engineering, Science or Tactical)? Science, With Science Career type I can create a mini army in STFs xD.

What’s your favourite ship? Uhm, my favorite ship would have to be the multi- mission ships due to their versatility, but in terms of models I would have to say the Intrepid class, from the voyager series xD.

What’s your best and worst STO moment? Best STO moment....Hm...That would be when I beat the Borg mission with the name Manus in it (lol), and had three of my team quit at the end, but still beat the mission with only two members. Worse.... When I did an Elite STF in Khitomer and got melted like butter by the borg.

What are some of your other interests? Well, gaming is actually my main hobby, mainly MMOs like STO and Mabinogi, but aside from that I play piano regularly, also play basketball and soccer weekly with my friends.

What’s your favourite band? Hmm..I would have to say Relient K. I just love Be My Escape xD.

How did you get into Star Trek Online? I knew about it and waited to sign up I should have took the beta invite and didn't... biggest mistake I ever made.

How long have you been playing for? Since May of 2010

What would be your best piece of advice to a new STO player? Read everything related to STO and ask questions, make mistakes and do better the next time!

What’s your favourite career type (Engineering, Science or Tactical)? I have two VA's one SCI and the other TAC .. I also have a ENG but I haven't been leveling that one.

Time Zone: CET with a tendency to play late at night, which brings me roughly to being active in US East Coast times.

How did you get into Star Trek Online? I got into Champions Online first, made the jump from City of Heroes. Then a few months later, Cryptic released STO... I don't play CO anymore, stuck to STO.

How long have you been playing for? Since launch, with large periods of inactivity, followed by levelling binges. Most recent return was for Legacy of Romulus. Levelled a Romulan to VA, then I came back to the federation, I guess.

What would be your best piece of advice to a new STO player? Make friends who'll explain you how this mess works. Or prepare youself to read lots of guides. Either way, it's one of the few truly original mmorpgs out there, so worth the trouble.

What’s your favourite career type (Engineering, Science or Tactical)? I like engineer better on ground, but since ground isn't my fave part of the game, it's Tactical all the way.

What’s your favourite ship? Avenger, the new BC, I really fell for that one. I find the assault ships too skittish. The Avenger sits on the fence of cruiser and assault, which is fun. Rather slow but mobile (with RCS's), lays down a nice amount of hurt with dual heavy canons, and can take a beating. Plus you can fit a cloak. Not like a tanky cruiser for sure, but long enough to kill what's trying to kill it.

What’s your best and worst STO moment? Like somebody else said here, best would be every time I get a new ship, it's always fun to try a new one and they look really beautiful. Worst, nothing I can remember.

What are some of your other interests? Reading, playing (bass) and listening to music, movies, good times

What’s your favourite band? Way too many to list, I got music bulimia. Listening indiscriminately to various genres, from alternative and classic rock to blues, electronic, hip hop, jazz,...

Anything else you want to say? Well, hello everyone. I have a short attention span and I'm known to ignore chat for extended periods, when I'm not simply afk. So if you need me to fill a team or whatever, don't hesitate to pull my sleeve a little to get my attention. I'm a quiet guy, but always up to do stuff with others.

I've never been too good at introductions, so some of it may be a bit spartan with a few of the parts.


My accounts name is @cryonicon, and the main character I use almost all of the time is Corbenik. I have 4 other characters which I hardly touch. Besides Corbenik being an engineer, the others are Gorre (Science), Tarvos (Tactical), Skeith (Klingon Tactical), and Magnus (Engineer). Corbenik is a Vice Admiral, and the others are at the bottom except for the klingon. Made him when they were first starting out and ended up beginning at level 20 or something. I reside in the Pacific Time Zone. Off and on I have been following Star Trek Online for a long time. I'm afraid I didn't have the pleasure nor the means to be on STO when it was first released due to life issues, but a year or so afterwards, I was able to play it and it was greatness.


I guess I can say I started playing STO when Gamestop reduced the Limited Edition for around 12 or so bucks. Came with the wicked federation pin, book, and 3 trial cards. For those just starting out on the game I guess some of the best advice I can give is go through the missions. Try to enjoy the game at a nice pace. Depending on how fast you choose to do the missions, you will reach the higher levels and ranks in no time. Especially if you can find someone to do them with. And for some of the stuff you missed since the games release, some can still be found if you look around and have some energy credits saved. Engineering is my class of choice. I like the ship designs and types, and depending on the ship out of class and thanks to ship customization, you can slap some of your personality on it. Right now, I am in a tie as to what my favorite ship is. Either between the Exploration Cruiser Retrofit, Dreadnought Cruiser, and Heavy Escort Carrier.


The best time in STO i've had so far would have to be each time I was able to get a new ship. It was like a mini christmas morning kind of thing. The worst time in STO would have to be the other day, when I wasn't able to get on ANY of my federation characters, and only my klingon character. Shot to the nerves man. Other interests would be computer repair. I'm great at troubleshooting them. Music? Phhhhhh wellll....kind of really hard to narrow down genre wise. As a whole I listen to whatever my day dreaming imagination demands. And when im not lost in my head like that, I go with a few specific bands. Arcana, Gothminister - Empire of Dark Salvation (Thats the only album that feels interesting to me. Had the most feeling about it. A few tracks of their older abums, and so far their newer stuff just does not seem right at all.), Theatre of Tragedy, Nox Arcana, and The Dreamside. Other than all this lengthy mass of words, I have this......peppermint marshmallows....

How did you get into Star Trek Online? Big Trek fan and have been playing Trek games since Birth of the Federation.

How long have you been playing for? Subscribed for a while when it was first released, got to Captain (seemed alot harder to lvl back in the day) but had to go travelling for a while and forgot about it 'til a couple of months ago.

What would be your best piece of advice to a new STO player? Stick with it, life begins at Admiral.

What’s your favourite career type (Engineering, Science or Tactical)? Tactical, I like big heavy guns and loads of 'em so I can blas foo while I blas foo!

What’s your favourite ship? Fleet Avenger all the way baby, 5 fore weapon slots, what else is there to say undefined

What’s your best and worst STO moment? Best: Joining the fleet undefined Worst: Dying in PVE, everytime is a broken heart (and it happens ALOT).

What are some of your other interests? Flash dev and game modding, gimme a shout if you need an SDK.

How did you get into Star Trek Online? Basically I'm a huge Trek fan, so if I can get the chance to command my own ship and away missions well, I'm hooked.

How long have you been playing for? Its been a long time, but only recently going at it seriously again.

What would be your best piece of advice to a new STO player? Don't follow me, I'm lost most of the time... hehehe, just be yourself and create the story you want.

What’s your favourite ship? I have to say the Sovereign-Class ship, most beautiful. but currently flying an Odyssey-Class.

What’s your best and worst STO moment? Finishing first in one of the pvp thingies, worst moment, ending up getting blown out of the sky by using the wrong ability time and time again.

How long have you been playing for? Too long...

What would be your best piece of advice to a new STO player? Always choose the ship and build you want, not what is considered 'best'

What’s your favourite career type (Engineering, Science or Tactical)? Tactical through and through... If at first you don't succeed, keep shooting until you do!

What’s your favourite ship? A bit of an odd one for a someone who likes Tactical character, but I'm a little in love with the Jem'Hadar Dreadnought Carrier! It's got it all, guns, armour and hanger bays!

What’s your best and worst STO moment? Best was solo-ing my first Borg Cube on an ESTF, worst would have to be one of the MANY times I've accidentally used 'Self Destruct' instead of Hazard Emitters... I've since had to remove Self Destruct from my tray, as I just can't be trusted!

What are some of your other interests? Can't beat a bit of table-top war gaming!
