Hello im Werman4 and iv just came back so ill thought ill say hello
Hello fleet! Hope you are well. I was wondering if anyone has a problem with timing out? I have been timing out for about 2 months now. More times than I can count. I have tried everything I know. It makes it very hard to enjoy the game. Any advice would be welcome.
Pai suggested that I mention the two funding events that we have up for the 2019 STLV convention ('cause I wouldn't have thought of putting this here!)
Darkthorne and I are trying to fund the 2019 Strike Group event at the Las Vegas Star Trek convention through writing and selling a STO tutorial book (well, a bunch of books!) on Amazon, a Go Fund Me, and Patreon.
The book (volume one) is awaiting cover art - but since you guys know how to play the game, it's all redundant at the moment.
Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/TheDarkMomConsortium
GoFundMe: https://www.gofundme.com/strike-group-strikes-again
All funds raised go toward expenses related toward the booth and the related stuff we need/want (we can scale down, but we have grand hopes!), anything raised after that will go toward getting as many fleeties there as possible!!!!
If you can't afford or don't want to donate, no problem! We would ask, however, if you would subscribe to the youtube channel. While not a great source of revenue, it's something... but we have to have 1,000 subscribers to get monetized at all.
Our goal is $15,000. I am, of course, playing the lottery, but so far, no luck there. Cross your fingers!

I thought I'd start a column of bugs that, at least for now, can speed up some of the game play.
This one popped up in chat today:
Nisa@bhaalspawn604: when you have to shut down the power plant in "The Power Source", you can prevent the overloads by running out of the room and not doing anything.
Having just played this with Darkthorne, it's a nice glitch that can ease on of the more tedious points of the game.

The sorry Story:
In Season 13 a big rebalancing happened - the Developers nerfed things they considered too strong and beefed stuff up they deemed too weak.
On Planet Trait, Energy Refrequencer from Iconian Reputation was hamstrung, outlawed & marooned. From that day on the trait was uncool, unreservedly.
During the introduction of Reputation Tier 6 Novermber 2018, the saddie was revamped, again.
It came to my attention when the tool tips looked much more promising, suddenly:
Reputation Tier 5:
ISA Combat log on a small Tactician:
Reputation Tier 6:
ISA Combat log on a not so small Engineer:
It's cool, man

Greetings and salutations from me to you all:
A happy, merry, cheerful (whatever that might the right term) Thanksgiving to all our fleeties..
May your plates be full.
Succulent and bird be big.
Stuffing be tasty.
Throats be watered (with good "blood"wine) - Q'apla!!.
Pies be many and tasty.
Bellies be full.
And last but not least, dont operate heavy machinery on a full stomach..

Hey Team,
Cryptic has identified the rubber-banding and have fixed it,
but that fix was a rollback of a previous fix of issues claiming your Tier 6-rep.
So they recommend that you don't claim your Tier 6 rep as of now. (Except for Ed that already has it)
See details and official statement from Kael: Galactic News

Quote:Hey folks,
We've been looking into the lag and rubber banding issues in the game, and determined the cause. Unfortunately, the cause was a fix we'd put in place to fix an entirely different bug - that Captains were getting their skills invalidated by claiming Tier 6 reputations. Because the lag is a larger issue throughout the game, we've decided to remove the previous fix as of a few minutes ago. This means that until our next update, where we'll be instituting a fix that should solve both problems, you should avoid claiming a Tier 6 Reputation. We apologize for the inconvenience - the fact that these two things are even related is mind boggling, but that's coding for you.

How did you get into Star Trek Online?
I've always loved Star Trek, but after losing a great deal of time to World of Warcraft I shied away from MMORPGs. After watching a video that explained that practically all content could be played solo, I hopped in. Aaaaannndd... after running into the fleet booth at the 2018 Las Vegas Treck converntion, here I am in a fleet spending way too many hours online.
How long have you been playing for?
Since June of 2018
What would be your best piece of advice to a new STO player?
This game has been around for a long time and has added a lot of depth and complexity. Don't let that discourage you from enjoying the game. The details will feel like second nature in time. Also, if you're not familiar with MMORPGs, realize that some things in the game take time and effort to acquire. This isn't a 'win in 3 days' single player game where you get all the shiny stuff right out of the gate.
What’s your favourite career type (Engineering, Science or Tactical)?
I've only been playing since June so its hard to say. Leaning toward Science.
What’s your favourite ship?
It's a bit early to say for sure on that one too, but I'm enjoying the Multi-Mission Strategic Eplorer science vessel that my Ezri toon is playing.
What’s your best and worst STO moment?
What are some of your other interests?
Tinkering in the garage (small woodworking projects). Other games. Browsing Twitter. Cats.
What’s your favourite band?
Hard question. I like a lot of music. I've been enjoying Imagine Dragons quite a bit.
Anything else you want to say?
I'm an introvert in real life, so I'm sorry if I'm not the most chatty online.

Goodbye Stan you created some very iconic memories for millions. Shaped peoples lives. And you will be missed. Mom and I were discussing shuttles and we have slightly differing opinions on them: I think they're awesome good fun, Mom thinks they're
The difficulty people have with shuttles, especially when they join STO, is that the shuttle comes with -S equipment which can be confusing. Namely, shuttles do not need to use shuttle-specific equipment and often, such equipment is worse than just using the equipment off your main ship. In addition, shuttles also have their own challenges: they are fundamentally small ships in their own right and need to be built with the same care as a capital ship with fewer slots. However, it's easier to show not tell.
With that in mind, I built a Captain's Yacht using (almost) all mission-obtained equipment. I tested it out and it works reasonably well. I will note here, as a traditionalist I like to have both energy and torpedo weapons on ships; and to push it further, I gave myself the limit of having only Federation weapon types on this shuttle, so that limited my choices to the phaser and quantum torpedo (or photon torpedo) sets. However, there are several other options available.
Captain's Yacht
The real value in using mission equipment (or even better, reputation equipment) is in two-piece set bonuses. This build benefits from:
An issue that people also have with shuttles is the difficulty in aiming and shooting. There are a couple of 'fixes', one being to get a ship holoemitter from the GPL Store; the other is to use reputation equipment visuals on the ship (such as the Iconian reputation deflector) which provides a good "front end". Having said that however, as you use shuttles more, you get used to its orientation (unless you're Red Squad, in which case you "can't recall").
I hope this will give people having some difficulty with shuttles to give them another look.

- Quantum Phase Catalysts weaponry/console bonus: +15 accuracy rating, doubles potency of quantum phase weapons shield drain, and doubles potency of quantum phase high-yield torpedo shield heal.
- Kobali Regenerative Circuitry bonus: +60% hull regeneration (increases as hull decreases)
- Incontrovertible defences bonus: +30 kinetic damage resistance rating
