'Twas before Christmas, I was looking for a true science vessel for my Romulan. Edar'Ta was my only science captain that time. The Intrepid Packet came to the shop. Yay, that's her new ship! So I thought. To my disappointment, Federation shares only their lower Tier ships with their trusted allies.

Priss of Vulcan was born, Edar'Ta continued her R&D projects and I levelled the aspiring vulcan lady like I was mad. T'Pol's dress was a must. Starting with a Breen set the USS EINSTEIN did reasonable damage, excellent support (crowd/movement control) and thanks to it's Mastery traits unexpected toughness. At the Khitomer Vortex she always posed as Gandalf's lost daughter, hailing the Borg Probes "YOU CAN NOT PASS"

Now she has the pleasure to command the USS GIPSY QUEEN:

I have these very rare Duty Officers active:
  • "Law" from Nimbus - 25% to reduce torpedo cool down
  • Amsoti from Xindi Box - 25% that your gravity well disables engines
  • A Deflector Officer - 25% to reduce deflector cooldowns to 50%
These guys are drunk on duty. I learned the hard way: if you employ more than one, a second proc can actually set your GW CD from, say 12 seconds back to 30.
  • A Sensor Officer - Sensor Scan reduces target's damage
  • A Gravimetry Scientist - 25% to create an additional Gravity Well after 12 second, 20% for another one... up to 4 Extra Black Holes!
Unfortunately, you must not put more than one on duty. So the Universe allows you to shoot your foot with 3 Deflector guys but it does not permit you to complete your "Twelve Black Holes To Bind Them, Twelve Black Holes To Rule Them All" master plan.
  • Number Six joined the space duty crew:
A Warp Core Engineer - 20% to add 25 to all power settings when an EPt(S, W, ...) is used.

1. The LTC universal slot that has my Tac boff is using Kemocite-Laced Weaponry 1, but there's no icon yet.

2. My 3rd Device slot has the Temporal Negotiator device (recharge of Boff abilities reduced by 50%).

Dunno what DPS I'm running, but I took out 2 borg cubes in under 20 seconds in a red alert.
The IKS Thunder was one of my I got/bought/found/made it so I use it ships. Update: I gave the build some more love meanwhile and went to a Drake build.

There is few to no reputation equipment. However I put some effort into the ship, getting my third purple aux2bat DOff from B'Tran after the walls fell, when colonization DOff missions varied by instance. And I made her look good at the ship tailor.
The Mk XIV Aegis set meanwhile served 4 alts. I tinker then and now a bit. The IKS THUNDER is just comfortable to fly everywhere when Mit'Naqt wakes up and wants a walk.
She is getting 1st Places at the evil snow flake advanced.
At the Tholian Red Alerts she chews Recluser groups solo and survives messing with the Trantula group solo until the team arrives.
This is a Romulan-Patriotic, Reputation-Heavy, Dillithium-Heavy Build

I combined tanky engines with mostly offensive consoles (those I know best) for a re-iteration of the infamous Aux-To-Bat & 3 DOffs (all Ten of Ten/Tuziar clones) build. Alternatives to the Delta Engine Set: Kobali (Dust-to-Dust, quickly farmable, more tanky healy, less fun) or some mix from the Omega Force.

Keybinding for <SPACEBAR> bells & whistles

How to make it work:
A shameless copy & paste from Kethend's great initial posting in Usefull Keybinds:
I save the above in a notepad with the file name of spacebar.txt and place in C:\Program Files\Perfect World Entertainment\Star Trek Online_en\Star Trek Online\Live folder

to make it work go to system space and put /bind_load_file spacebar.txt in your chat line and hit enter.

What it does:
Whenever you hit the space bar, it fires all weapons, activates the first available power in your action tray 10 and redistributes shields when all actions are on CD. The sequence is version 2.0 of what I used earlier. thx to x48rph and noybman for discussing this in Usefull Keybinds.

Powers in Action Tray 10:
  1. Emergency Power to Weapons
  2. Emergency Power to Shields
  3. BW Fire at Will
  4. BW Target Shields
  5. Attack Pattern Beta
  6. Attack Pattern Omega
  7. Tactic Team
  8. 1st Auxilliary Power to Batteries
  9. 2nd Auxilliary Power to Batteries
Piper, my first STO Character learned the hard way that Escorts are probably not my ship class. I switched to the Guardian Cruiser, suddenly the space battles got kind of... relaxed. The Dust-To-Dust Episode came, Q spread Omega Particles and the T6 Command Cruisers emerged. The reviews I read on these digested to The Lord is with the Stupid. I found my ship class.

The ship build link shows her as she flies. Maybe I should go to Tetryon, joining my Hangar Pets.
The complete Kobali Set and a complete Command Cruiser Console set (both thanks to the Samsar Cruiser) resulted in the most endurable ship I ever (well, in 6 month STO gaming) had the pleasure to command.

At this point the Captain opens a bottle of Romulan Ale...

Visit the ship tailor for a good look. Visit Chrystal Entity. Turn for broadside fire at 6 km distance. Collect Mission 1st places. She was destroyed only once. That battle lasted for more than 15 minutes -  the team must have invented inovative ways not to kill the Snowflake of Evil.

Shield Scrapper. Self Healer. AoE Healer. My Little Death Star. So I call her.
There are many baby squid ships in space, so painting is important:

For the "starter" build I chipped in resources for the Disruptor Beam Arrays, the Aegis Set is re-used as Catriona flies Reputation engines, the Plasmonic Leech is a pay-once for KDF (the Vandal) and allies, the Kobali core & console are from the Samsar. Klingons get the Hargh'Peng Torpedo very early and often and the rest is R&D and Delta gifts upgraded to MK XII. The Front Torpedo came from the Iconian Rep 20h Daily.
As KdF gets two purple Damage Control Engineers quite cheap at Tech-4 (Staas and Replicator) I had to make it a Drake build with 2 blues and a purple left-over from Mit'Naqt.
The Torpedo Spread-3 is thanks to execution of the Jem Hadar Boff from Installation 4028.

There is lots of room for improvement (no fleet items, no reputation items, reputation traits are sparse) but the ship does well in missions, normal STFs, advanced Snow Flakes and red alerts. Not a monster, but never below 3rd place when it comes to ... em ... comparisons.

Great fun is a Torpedo volley into a GW while the Tachyon Beams tickles a Big Juju's shields Big Grin

If Mel'hMac should get boring, Mit'Naqt will confiscate the MK XIV beam arrays for her Command Cruiser.
It's a cloudy Sunday Morning and a Engineering fleet mate with an Aegis Set asks for help on his brand new fleet Odyssey.

Mission objective is a tanky puncher, reputation is in the beginning.

This is my suggested set up to get started: The Odd Oddyssey

One slight error, the LTC Sci ability is Destabilizing Resonance Beam II, not III and it's missing an icon.

With this build, I can solo Borg Red Alerts with relative ease. Haven't tested it in ISA, but I'm told I'm probably doing atleast 35-50k DPS.

All 3 of my tac boffs are rare quality Romulans from the Fleet Embassy with the Superior Romulan Operative trait (+2% CrtH, +5% CrtD, +15% power recharge speed for cloaking.). Between that and my personal skill setup, I have 25.4% Crit Chance and 106.9% Crit Severity.
The good news, especially when you have Superior Romulan Operatives: You already have the right officers! All they need is training.

Specialization Training adds ability options for slots, in all other aspects your Mad Scientist/Gung Ho Tactician/Drunken Engineer stay true to themselves.

To teach your Tac/Sci/Eng Officer a Specialization in Intelligence/Pilot/Command, you need an manual.

Manuals for specializations requie a PADD as Component (anyone can craft a PADD in 30 minutes at the Officers Training tab in R&D, materials are 200 Dilithium, 4 Tritatium, 1 Thoron Particle) and 4 or 8 specific manuals (totalling in the 30k EC range) from the Training NPC.

Specialization Manuals can be crafted quickly by Captains that have 10 Points spent in that Spec.

At the BOff Training NPC you can purchase the Grade-1 and Grade-2 ability manuals. Grade-3 ability manuals (Lt. Commander / Commander slots) can be crafted by Captains with 22 points spent in that Spec.
